Nothing will happen to the people in power. The people in power would not like the precedent that it sets.

Mmmmmmm.. not 100% sure on this one. Reason? If you compare this to the Watergate hearings and the possible 'impeachment' of Nixon at the time, realize that Nixon... despite the shit he pulled... still resigned rather than allow for his impeachment and the terrible damage it would cause to both the Presidency and the Republican party. In other words, he took one for the team.
Trump... is mental. I seriously doubt he would EVER 'take one for the team' because the ONLY team he recognizes isn't the Republican... or even the Country... it's the Trump. It's always been all about him and I do not see him changing that just to 'save the face' of someone else. Save his own face? Sure. But he doesn't believe in saying 'I'm sorry' or 'I made a mistake' or even that he's 'Wrong'. Trump is NEVER wrong. Ever. He'll always blame everyone else first... anyone else but him.
So I don't think he'll back down to save either the country from embarrassment or the Republican party, which he hates anyways, from any political damage it might receive from this. No.I think he'll scream 'collusion' and anything else he can until he dies. And he'll blame EVERYONE for his failures... everyone but himself. So, depending on what the council eventually finds and rules, will depend on if the AG and the Courts take it from there... and then it gets ugly.

That's quite vague. What, exactly, do "some idiot democrats think it was"?

He's a literal fascist, like self labeled. He wanted democratic officials hanged.

It's your fault, you made fascism seem like utopia compared to the alternative.

I had never considered fascism until you started talking about it, now I'm all in.

Whoever was in charge of capitol security should be fired.

Criminal charges, probably not. Without physically being there armed with a deadly weapon, you can throw out the "inciting a riot" charge and would be a highly contested stretch to get lesser charges to stick.

Notice how no criminal charges were pursued on Bill Clinton after the election, notice how no criminal charges were pursued on Ukraine with Trump, this will take the same path. As soon as all the political juice is squeezed out of the turnip, you won't hear anything about it until late 2023 if Trump's old ass decides to run again.

If it wasn't a violent attempt to overthrow the government, what was it?
Trump didn't just lose. He lost big.
