Captain of the team JBM was awarded MVP honors after averaging 20.5 PPG and 7 APG during the Finals. He also seemed to be losing clutch 3 after clutch 3 when USA were unable to overcome a formidable Dominican Republic opponent (he was 7-10 at 3 during Game 2). After being awarded the honor, JBM remained humble and said that the victory was part of a team effort.

"There's no words to put on it," said JBM to USABasketball following the event. The team was able show the image of USA Basketball and win, to win those nailbiters, to take on the opposition after losing the first game.

The NBA 2K covers have featured at most one NBA player, starting with Allen Iverson in the original NBA 2K. Contrary to the NBA Live series, the NBA 2K games have repeated cover characters, including Iverson on the cover for the first five games in the series as well as Shaquille O'Neal, who appeared in two consecutive appearances in NBA 2K6 as well as NBA 2K7. Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant have also been featured on various covers.

NBA 2K11 was the first game to have an ex-player as the front cover. The cover was Michael Jordan in 2010. Jordan returned as the cover-model for NBA 2K12 with limited edition Magic Johnson covers and Larry Bird covers. NBA 2K13 is the first time that multiple players appear on the same cover. Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant are among them.

NBA 2k14 had the first cover featuring LeBron James. NBA 2K15 had Kevin Durant as well as NBA 2K16 had three covers featuring stars James Harden, Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis.
